“CRENÇAS INDIVIDUAIS, AÇÕES COLETIVAS”: COMO AS DECISÕES MORAIS AFETAM O COMPORTAMENTO POLÍTICO EM REDES SOCIAIS?

Fake news is not a recent phenomenon, but it has become an important political tool in the far-right narrative. The way in which fake news and moral judgments are processed was the starting point of this research. The study of morality was based on the Theory of Moral Foundations (TFM) which encompasses five moral foundations: Harm/Caution, Justice/Fairness, Loyalty/Treachery, Authority/Subversion, and Purity/Holiness. The objective was to evaluate the impact of fake news on the political behavior of users of the social network Whatsapp. The methodology used was netnography, netnographic diaries were built and eight self-declared public WhatsApp groups of the right or extreme right were monitored, later cataloging the contents according to TFM. There was an increase in hate speech against opponents and sensationalist information. There were no discussions about the veracity of the news, with a strong appeal to authority and emotional manipulation.As fake news não são um fenômeno recente, mas tornaram-se importante ferramenta política na narrativa da extrema direita. A forma como são processadas as notícias falsas e os julgamentos morais foi o ponto de partida desta pesquisa. O estudo da moralidade foi embasado na Teoria dos Fundamentos Morais (TFM) que abarca cinco fundamentos morais: Dano/Cuidado, Justiça/Equidade, Lealdade/Traição, Autoridade/Subversão e Pureza/Santidade. O objetivo foi avaliar o impacto das fake news no comportamento político de usuários da rede social Whatsapp. A metodologia usada foi a netnografia, foram construídos diários netnográficos e acompanhados oito grupos de WhatsApp públicos autodeclarados de direita ou extrema direita, posteriormente realizam-se catalogações dos conteúdos segundo a TFM. Observou-se o aumento no discurso de ódio contra opositores e informações de cunho sensacionalista. Não haviam discussões quanto à veracidade das notícias, sendo forte o apelo à autoridade e manipulação emocional
